Site-Specific Installation 'De-Mark' in France @PAF Chapel

16th to 27th dec 2009
Demarking in France is an idea that is rooted to my past. Being born into a second generation christian family in a multi cultural and religious atmosphere my thoughts manifested into philosophical inquiries about my life. The aspect of living in a culture (multi) with beliefs that were introduced by Europeans was a challenging part to my entire life and existence which questions every act I perform consciously or otherwise. The element of red thread is intended to evoke a sense of space which has demarcative forces and associated values as dogmas. This can be viewed as those pertaining to the aspects of spacial dynamics and as values in a Hindu ritual in India. These ritualistic performances became a part of me existing as memories which instilled a sense of cultural value to which I was a witness. Thus a whole gamute of religions, customs, rituals and belief systems are brought into play in this installation.

Some Views from my window in France.

The Snow walkIn the silence of the woods
a flake of snow rests on my nose
but vanishes with my heat
like a dew drop that melts
before falling to the ground.
The snow moulds and casts
blended by the walk,
ruptured by the twigs
that fall under my weight.
A crack fills the silence
while a ruffled leaf makes a resilience
step by step the journey is made
with every movement
contended in the moment of space.
The deep valley forming a wall behind
That encloses a thought so deep
Opening a vista so wonderful and breathtaking.
